Dr. Ping Zhu is an associate professor of engineering at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Zhu has been working with thermoplastic elastomers in the following three fields.
- Poly(ether-b-amide) (PEBA) elastomer: synthesis, production, characterization, foaming, fatigue behavior, degradation
- Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) for medical devices: synthesis, structure-property relationship
- In situ Synchrotron X-ray scattering and diffraction of the elastomer and the strain-induced crystallization
He once worked in Akzo Nobel, 3M with industrial protective coatings, 2K adhesives, and aliphatic TPU film. In 2023, he received the China Patent Gloden Award (2/6) and Beijing Municipal Second Award for Science and Technology (6/9). He is currently staying at the chair of Medical Materials and Implants as a visiting scholar with the topic of bio-compatible polyurethane for medical implants.
