In 2022, we were able to really clean up in the doctoral prizes. Three dissertations were awarded prestigious prizes. All three are endowed with € 5,000. On 1 July, the first Day of Engineering and Design #DayEDTUM (formerly Faculty Day), the three prize winners were presented with their awards in a ceremony.

This year, the EFB Project Award for outstanding scientific and technical research projects went to the Chair of Metal Forming and Casting. Dipl.-Ing. Isabella Pätzold was honored for her research on "Reduction of edge crack sensitivity by two-stage shear cutting".

In the new issue of the magazine "Automobilproduktion" a detailed interview with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfram Volk on the subject of aluminium die-casting for large shell components has been published. Wolfram Volk sees gigacasting as an alternative that adds an interesting variant to the technological toolbox in car body construction.
