Description | Vascular and neurogenic dysfunctions in male ambitious road cycling athletes are not a secret anymore but implicated by numerous scientific studies. The number of studies on such relationships in female athletes is far lower, and yet the few available results point to similar issues as in men's sport. Nerve damage, infections, numbness and discomfort in the pelvic floor area can quickly rob you of the fun of sport and, last but not least, result in health restrictions and a reduction in quality of life. |
In cooperation with the italian company SHER, we are investigating the pressure conditions of female road cyclists on their saddles. The pressure distributions are analyzed and digitalized using a special measuring device. They then serve as the base for modeling and simulating the interface of human and sports equipment. Using innovative manufacturing methods, a new chamois for women's road cycling underwear is to be developed, which achieves an ergonomic load distribution. Sensitive regions can be relieved and the health risks in ambitious racing can be reduced. | |
We are particularly pleased with the support of Selle Italia and the ID Match Bike Fitting System that is provided for this project. |
