The time had come again! As part of the course "Methodology Seminar Sports Technology", 15 TUM students carried out three days of measurements in a high alpine environment on the Zugspitze. This time the seminar was held in cooperation with Lowa. With the help of high-speed cameras, pressure and muscle activity measurements, the influence of different mountain boots on the athlete was analysed.
This semester, the weather again played a decisive role: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, bright sunshine and (summery) temperatures of around 5°C - we had it all. Using the measurement technology was also a challenge again this year. The methodology seminar again showed all participants what it means to use and test sports equipment and measuring systems in a high alpine environment. In the end, however, all the planned measurements could be carried out successfully.
We would like to thank LOWA for their active support. The industry-related insight into the development of sports shoes was definitely a highlight for everyone.
A big thank you also goes to the staff of the Schneefernerhaus. Like every semester, we were warmly welcomed to the research station and perfectly looked after during our three-day stay.
