Munich Symposium on Lightweight Design

Call for Papers

Every year since 2003, the Technical University of Munich, the Universität der Bundeswehr München and the University of Applied Sciences in Munich have been inviting researchers and experts in the field of Lightweight Design to the Munich Symposium on Lightweight Design. The Symposium aims to bring experts from both Academia and Industry together to discuss new developments, processes, and possible applications for pushing research in Lightweight Design. This year’s Munich Symposium on Lightweight Design 2025 will take place over three days as an in-person event at the participating universities. Participation is free of charge. You can register here.

We invite all interested researchers and industry practitioners to present their work. Please submit an abstract of your presentation until September 07, 2025. You will be notified about acceptance by September 10, 2025. Presentations can be submitted in German or English. In addition, every accepted speaker is invited to submit a written contribution (full paper in English, 4 to 12 pages) by January 12, 2026. Submitted papers will undergo a review. You will receive a separate notification of acceptance by January 26, 2026. Accepted papers will finally be published by Springer as part of the Proceedings of the Munich Symposium on Lightweight Design 2025.

Submission & Topics

An abstract or short description of your presentation can be submitted via the Springer Meteor system. The template and guidelines can be found here. Contributions may address, but are not limited to, on or more of the following topics:
