"LOLA's Adventure" - TUM Girl Explorers program

From July 29 to 31, the Chair of Applied Mechanics at TUM hosted the second "LOLA's Adventure" program, part of the TUM Girl Explorers program, in which girls aged 12 to 15 explored the fascinating world of robotics.

During the three days, the eleven participants gained hands-on experience with motion capture technology, industrial robot arms and the humanoid robot Lola. They choreographed their own dances and practiced yoga poses on camera to create their own animated movies. The robot arms became exciting everyday helpers by being programmed to build figures out of wooden blocks. As a souvenir, participants designed and 3D printed their own Lola figurines, which they painted and attached to homemade CAD bases.

Fun activities such as a pizza party at the chair, trips to the parabolic slides in the computer science building, ping pong, spike ball, and a campus walk were also part of the program. Both the participants and our staff who supervised the program had a great time.

We are already looking forward to next summer!
